148   Transitional provisions relating to persons whose registration is suspended



   148. Transitional provisions relating to persons whose registration is
 suspended--- (1) This section applies to any person who, immediately
 before the commencement of this Act, is suspended from practice as a
 medical practitioner under the Medical Practitioners Act 1968.

   (2) Where this section applies to any person,---
   (a) Sections 144 to 147 of this Act shall apply, in relation to that
         person, as if, at the commencement of this Act, that person held
         the registration under the Medical Practitioners Act 1968 that
         he or she would have held at the expiry of his or her suspension
         if this Act had not been enacted; but
   (b) The registration that he or she is deemed, by virtue of any of the
         provisions of sections 144 to 147 of this Act, to hold at the
         commencement of this Act shall be deemed to be suspended until
         that person's suspension from practice under the Medical
         Practitioners Act 1968 would have expired if this Act had not
         been enacted.
