55 Currency of annual practising certificate
55. Currency of annual practising certificate---(1) Subject to
subsection (2) of this section, every annual practising certificate
shall be in force,---
(a) In the absence of any rules made under section 56 of this Act,---
(i) If the practising certificate is issued before the date of
expiry of the current annual practising certificate held by the
applicant, from the commencement of the 1st day of April next
after the date of its issue until the close of the following
31st day of March; and
(ii) In any other case, from the commencement of the date of
its issue until the close of the following 31st day of March; or
(b) Where any rules made under section 56 of this Act are in force, in
accordance with the provisions of those rules.
(2) If, at any time during the currency of an annual practising
certificate, its holder ceases to be registered, the certificate shall
be deemed to be cancelled.
(3) Every medical practitioner who is entitled to receive an annual
practising certificate under section 51 (3) of this Act shall be deemed
to be the holder of that certificate from the date when he or she
applied for it in accordance with that section until the date it is
issued or he or she is sooner notified by the Registrar that it will not
be issued.
